Our History

Racing’s most revolutionary ideas rarely come from a lab or a classroom. They are born by avid racers on the track and in the pit, the result of a never-ending pursuit of power and speed.

Bill Hirsch is racing’s mad scientist, and he spent years obsessing over the balance between the power of an open stack intake versus the protection of filtration. The most popular paper and cotton filters on the market kept him safe, but at an awful cost in airflow and horsepower.

The result of his trial and error was the patented BBR Velocity Stack Air Filter, using layers of stainless steel screen mesh to replace the thick, oil-treated cotton that was constricting air intake. He was able to filter debris with little to no loss in power.

BBR Filters has expanded our line to include all the most common sizes of stacks, then introduced more standard 6”, 10”, and 14” air cleaners. We even offer custom fittings for quad systems, domes, or anything intake you can dream up.

All BBR Filters are made in the USA from the highest grade steel and silicone fittings. The color options enhance the look of your engine as much as they protect it.
